NHTV Installs New HD Equipment From State of CT PEGPETIA Grant
NORTH HAVEN, (March 1, 2010) NHTV recently installed a new, computer-based Broadcast Pix Slate 100 HD studio control room switcher. The new switcher's features include the ability to load pre-recorded segments (also known as "B-roll") onto the actual switcher for insertion during the taping of a program. The switcher also has a self-contained Inscriber Character generator built-in to the unit itself. Another unique feature is the "virtual monitor" set-up. Instead of using multiple, heat-generating individual monitors, the Broadcast Pix generates "virtual" monitors and displays them on NHTV's new 47" flat-panel wide-screen monitor. Those "virtual" monitors may be resized and moved anywhere on the 47" screen. The new switcher, working in conjunction with three new JVC HD studio cameras purchased last year, gives NHTV the ability to record in full-HD. As soon as the cable/video providers such as Comcast and AT&T U-Verse are ready, NHTV will be able to air programming in HD. The equipment was purchased as a result of NHTV's successful garnering of two PEGPETIA grants from the State of CT valued at approximately $100,000.
NEW CONTROL ROOM AT LIBRARY
A new control room, including wall-mounted robotic cameras, and an integrated Tricaster switcher/character generator, was recently installed in the North Haven Memorial Library. The equipment was purchased by a grant from the State of Connecticut, garnered by Steve Fontana, State Representative (D-87th). The equipment allows for multiple-camera televised coverage of Town meetings held at the library. NHTV would also like to thank both former First Selectman Janet McCarty(D), and current First Selectman Mike Freda(R), for their support in this project. Additional thanks to Bill Bennett, I.T. Manager for the Town of North Haven for his support.

For over 60 years, New England Clam Chowder was part of the tradition of the North Haven Fair. After a one year absence, by popular demand, New England Clam Chowder returned to the very pavilion where for years one could sit and relax with a nice bowl of soup.
The event, held the weekend of Sept. 8-11, 2011, was a tremendous success! In addition to raising funds for NHTV, the event allowed NHTV a terriffic opportunity to perform outreach to the community. Click HERE for pics.
